Runic Knights was founded by Meldor the same day many adventurers suddenly appeared in the Shire, Ered Luin, and Bree-town. No one is quite sure what caused this influx of adventurers, though I've heard some call it "Beta".
Not much is known about Meldor, except that he came from a land called Brittania, ruled by Lord British. He spent many years there under the tutelage of Maiya, a leader among leaders on the Atlantic Shard. From what I have been able to gather, Meldor was a trusted commander among Maiya's forces, but he heard the call of Middle Earth, and struck out on his own to heed that call, and Runic Knights was reborn in Middle Earth. From the letters we have found that Meldor wrote, we have found that in his original homeland, the date was reckoned as March 21, 2007. In vain I have searched to determine what this relates to in our reckoning, but as it dates back so long before my birth, I have been unsuccessful to date. Anyway...
Meldor soon proved himself to be a capable leader, surrounding himself with others of like mind (including his Second in Command, Hestah) as he ventured out to assist Gandalf in his mission, helping to rid Middle Earth of the dangers it now faced. Nearly immediately, hundreds of fellow-adventurers sought to join Meldor's kinship, and it was quickly as full as the member log-book could handle. Each time he expanded the log-book, more fine adventurers would join, and it would fill again.
His dream for the Runic Knights was a kinship up of all races (Elf, Man, Dwarf, and Hobbit) and all ages - from the youngest adventurous hobbit to the wizened Dwarfs and Elves. All were made welcome and the kinship flourished. While adventurers come and go, our roster currently holds between 1,200-1,500 members, from those just starting out on their adventure to others who have faced the balrog Thaurlach, the dragon Draigoch, and even Saruman himself and lived to tell the tale.
